“Title for the blog, guys?”

“Let’s call it ‘May-hem’.”

“No, how about ‘May The Force Be With You’.”

“Or ‘May Madness Be Allowed’ .”

*sigh*

What we lack in killer blog titles we make up for with some great pre-orders and deals for the month. So without further facepalm moments, here’s what to expect this month at Game4u.

1. Alan Wake Collector’s Edition (Xbox 360) is up for pre-order. The CE includes:

  • Game Disc in box with unique art
  • Exclusive In-Game Audio Commentary and Hints by Remedy
  • “The Alan Wake Files” – a 144-page book that includes a short story written by Alan Wake and compiles the FBI dossiers investigating the events in Bright Falls, WA
  • Exclusive Audio Disc with Soundtrack and Score
  • Game Add-on token redeemable on Xbox LIVE for the first Alan Wake add-on content pack
  • Exclusive Xbox disc with special content: Alan Wake Xbox Live Theme and Alan Wake avatar for Xbox Live

It’s looking pretty good with a lot of positive reviews. Here’s what it looks like.
2. Lost Planet 2 (Xbox 360, PS3) more guns, more giant robots, more monsters and a whole lot more fun in the sequel to the smash-hit Lost Planet.

3. ModNation Racers (PS3, PSP) Mario Kart meets LittleBigPlanet in this phenomenal kart racing game for everyone.

Also if you want your gaming on the go, check out the PSP with 2 free games, Daxter and Loco Roco available in Pearl White and Radiant Red.

And if this wasn’t enough expect Red Dead Redemption, Alpha Protocol, Split/Second: Velocity and Blur all available this month online and on our shelves.

So what will you be playing this month?

The Game4U Holiday Game Guide

Posted in New Video Games, PREORDER on November 30th, 2009 by Game4u Ninja – 3 Comments

For the past couple of days we’ve been wracking our collective RedBull-addled brains on ways to make this blog a little more worthwhile of it’s existence on this thingamajig of naughty pictures, illegal file sharing and online fraud more commonly known as the internet.

After what seemed like ages (read: 2 minutes divided between wondering if unicorns puke rainbows and updating our fledgling FaceBook community) it hit us, we’d guide you on what games are worth playing. You know, one of the major reasons why this blog is rarely updated.

So without further gibberish posing as an opening paragraph here’s our picks for this winter holiday season in no particular order:

  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3) : Drop dead gorgeous graphics? Check. Awesome action sequences? Check. Robust controls? Check. Killer jaw-dropping graphics that justify your PS3 purchase well into 2050? Check. Uncharted 2 is one of the most adrenaline-fueled gaming experiences this year. Everyone’s favorite fortune hunter, Nathan Drake is back searching for the Cintamani stone and the secrets it holds. From Nepal to Borneo and a cluster of amazing locales in between this is a hallmark for the action-adventure genre. Having two pretty women vying for your attention doesn’t harm it either. A must purchase for every PS3 owner.
  • Assassin’s Creed 2 (PS3, X360): Sequel to the flawed but satisfying 2007 title, Assassin’s Creed 2 improves upon it’s predecessor in ways more than one. Be it a better graphics engine (where the PS3 and X360 version are almost at par), a wide variety of moves at your disposal as a 15the century assassin, Ezio,  improved enemy AI, longer gameplay time (around 15-18 hours) and a deeper combat system, AC2 is one of the better titles to check out this holiday season if you like action-adventure games.
  • FIFA 10 (PSP, PS2,PS3,Wii, DS, Xbox 360, PC): A Game4U.com favorite, FIFA 10 lends itself brilliantly to settling our in-office disputes. The multiplayer  is fantastic and we’re yet to see anything just as good out this year. Add great single-player modes like Manager Mode and Be A Pro to the mix and you have a game with almost infinite replayability. Or at least enough till the next game in the franchise comes along.
  • Dragon Age: Origins (PC, PS3, Xbox 360): One of the major reasons for the lack of an update, Dragon Age: Origins is undoubtedly, as a few reviews have pointed out, one the best role-playing games of the decade. With an epic storyline that makes the Lord of the Rings seem like an episode of Bigg Boss and a great amount of content jammed in (it contains downloadable content  worth approximately  Rs. 700)makes it one of the better buys this season. Oh and did we mention it’s got around 120 hours of gameplay time? Definitely a title we’d be playing well into next year.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3, Xbox 360): Countering terrorism never gets old. Even more so when it’s set in the present day rather than the usual World War 2 setting. While the single-player campaign of Modern Warfare 2 is on the shorter side, the multiplayer more than makes up for it with a great community and some sweet moments such as being able to launch a nuke right in the middle of a death match. Also it’s available in 3 flavors; Standard, Hardened and Prestige. Our personal favorite: the Prestige Edition. Just for those awesome night vision goggles of course.

So there you have it folks some of the best games this winter, if there’s a game you feel is missing from the list do let us know on Twitter, Facebook , email or snail mail .  Just some of the ways for you to reach us if you don’t feel like commenting on this post. Having said that, what are your picks for the season?
