Hi folks! After a busy few weeks we are back with our Fan of the Week interview, and this time it’s Rashi Chandra from New Delhi!
You heard that right guys, its a gamer girl! Follow the interview to get to know her a little better ![]()
G4U Ninja: Hi Rashi, thanks for taking the time out to have a chat with us!
Rashi: Helloo!
G4u Ninja: You’re our first female fan of the week! Never saw that coming
but its really nice to be talking to a gamer girl for a change! Why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself?
Rashi: Well, I am a 22 years old girl gamer! I’ve been gaming since I was a kid. I used to watch my dad play Prince of Persia (the DOS version) and when I was a little bigger, I was allowed to play myself.
Apart from that, I am a Game Artist working for MPowered.in, which is the gaming studio of Apra Infotech Pvt. Ltd. I work on creating concept art, backgrounds, characters, etc. for the games we work on. Our first game was Carmella the Flying Squirrel!
G4u Ninja: That’s pretty awesome! How long have you been a Game Artist?
Rashi: Well I’ve been an artist since I learnt how to hold a pencil
But I’ve been a Game Artist for more than a year now!
G4u Ninja: What was the first game you remember playing?
Rashi: I think it was Doom. Yeah.. that’s what it was
G4u Ninja: Gaming since you were a kid is bound to leave you with some good memories – What were your favorite?
Rashi: I remember I used to play Doom (the first game) with my sister. She controlled where he went, and I controlled the guns. I enjoyed that game a lot because it was fun playing together. Also, there were many moments when we used to scream our lungs out and run off to our mom because an alien suddenly came in front of us. But, we eventually grew out of it.
G4u Ninja: Haha! you’re not alone – Doom almost got me into a coma once
Rashi: Great! I thought I was so silly for getting scared of some pixelated alien faces.. I think Doom really is one of the best games.. I recently bought and played a bit of Dead Space 2. I stopped playing it shortly thereafter and I’ve sort of promised myself I am not going to play any horror games ever.
G4U Ninja: Dead Space 2 can make you do things like that
As a gamer, what is your favorite platform to play on?
Rashi: I’ve played on PC all my life. But I recently purchased a PS3. PC games are generally more affordable, in India atleast. And thanks to platforms such as Steam I am able to enjoy a wealth of indie games that would normally go unnoticed in a sea of AAA releases.
PS3 is worth it for the exclusives alone though! I am currently playing Uncharted 3 and am absolutely LOVING it to bits.
G4U Ninja: Yup, the uncharted franchise is as much a cinematic experience as it is a game! As an artist I’m sure you’d appreciate the game more than the usual gamer!
Rashi: Yes! Though I appreciate Nathan Drake more
G4U Ninja: Haha… Just like we guys had a crush on Lara Croft at some point or the other
So is there any particular Genre that you enjoy playing?
Rashi: My favorite genre would be action-adventure with a sprinkle of FPS games. I beat all my colleagues in F.E.A.R Combat. I am also trying my hand at RPG and Indie gaming titles. Though sometimes, we tend to play games like Left 4 Dead 2, Killing Floor, F.E.A.R. Combat (I kick their butts most of the time!)
I didnt know much about the different genres of gaming. But my colleagues are making sure I try out different genres too.
G4u Ninja: Cool! What games are you looking forward to this year?
Rashi: I’m looking forward to Darksiders 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3. Far Cry 3 too! I am absolutely crazy about Assassin’s Creed series. Its fun stabbing people in the back… I mean virtual people
Also, I loved the whole look of the Ezio arc!
G4U Ninja: Any last thoughts for the fans?
Rashi: Gaming is great, but can has its ups and downs. Game development in itself can be a different thing altogether. Whats important is to keep an open mind
G4u Ninja: Thanks Rashi
It was real fun talking you! I’m sure the community will be happy to see that gaming now isn’t just restricted to the guys only!
And that’s about it folks! Props to Rashi for making the interview so fun to do :) Stay tuned this week for more updates on the gaming world!
